Merchants NY Cafe

This place is physically only one block away from home, and when you're feeling lazy... something to do as opposed to getting some room service. This was the second time I've been there, and again the first did seem to be a little better.

Grilled Flatiron Steak
Having felt a bit of a craving for some meat, I went for the flatiron steak medium rare. It came more towards a medium... What I was most surprised with was the lack of meaty flavour that is much more apparent in general places back home. The seasoned fries were really flavorsome and I ended up eating more of that than the actual steak...

Wood Oven Roasted French Cut Chicken Breast
A much more healthier option of wood oven roasted french cut chicken breast with wilted spinach and whipped potatoes. Looked the goods, except that it was fairly bland - although it was marinated in lemon, garlic and rosemary. Apart from the slight sauces from the spinach and marinade, it was pretty dry.

Either way, both times did feel disappointing. Looking at the kitchen, the layout, the environment - it should have been so much better, yet it just... didn't live up to what it seemed to be. Somehow I wish there was more of a selection on the menu such that I can go back there to have some nice sit down food alone, but I guess that's not meant to be...
