Pound and Pence

A fairly nicely decorated british style pub not too far away from home and the office. Always great for a casual meal and this was my second time back. Somehow, the first time and first impressions were of a greater memory and taste.

Pound and Pence
Being able to sit back on these leather high back chairs, was definitely a nice comfy and relaxing feeling. Especially after a long day's work in the office.

Jalapeno Poppers
Jalapeno Poppers stuffed with cheddar cheese and raspberry inferno sauce. And no, the sauce wasn't actually spicy or hot - so I felt anyway. The jalapeno had a bit of kick, probably would have preferred more - and once again, wasn't much of a great fan of the cheddar cheese on the inside. As a starter, this was probably more than what I expected in terms of serving size!

Spicy Chicken Fingers
Spicy chicken fingers with buffalo sauce and blue cheese. Similar to buffalo wings, except this was chicken fillets as opposed to wings... Initial thoughts was that this was going to be small strips of chicken, except it was  much larger than hoped. Not necessarily a bad thing, but too filling at this time of night. The outside was crispy and buffalo sauce wasn't hot enough. The meat was tender and the fresh celery and carrot sticks provided a nice balance.

Merchant's Burger
The famous merchants burger with angus beef, vermont cheddar, smokey bbq sauce, applewood bacon, caramelized onions, crispy onion strings and cottage fries. Definitely a mini heart-attack. Somehow this didn't taste as good as it did the first time, especially the cottage fries. I was so looking forward to these again as the first time - it definitely gave me the vibe of the best fries I've had to date. This time was underwhelming... It wasn't crispy like the previous time, nor did it have the same flavour. Hopefully it was just an off-night, so I can go back and have these again!!

Pound and pence is definitely a place to go to after work for some casual drinks and pub food. Food is a bit better than average I'd say, but not really the main focus for going. If you're wanting some british food and beer, it's a decent choice. Looking forward to the bangers and mash next time I go back
