Ulysses Folk House

A relatively local pub/bar to the office and home that a colleague mentioned she wanted to try. Especially with a monday night special on the menu, was hard to pass up!

Ulysses
Being able to sit right in front of the kitchen, was interesting to see how quick it was for them to prepare and set up the food... of course, starting at it only makes you hungrier!! Although the special didn't appear to be made on request (relatively pre-made), it was still impressive!

Ulysses
Some nice and funky decor... Nice pub style environment where in the restaurant side, wasn't too noisey

Steak Tidbits
To start, had some steak tidbits with horseradish sauce. Having no idea what tidbits is, thought I'd give it a try. Essentially bits of steak done medium rare, seared nicely on the outside, served over crunchy toast. Quite a large serving for what's meant to be a starter...

Whole Lobster
The main course... and the whole reason I was coming here. Whole lobster with corn and baked potato. Was wondering what the special "sauce" they provided was, and it's just...  melted butter. Surprising... to me, not the locals! Probably the best value you'd ever get from $20! But it is a boston lobster - which definitely lacks some of the flavour that I'm used to with crabs or lobster back home.

Lobster Bib
Even comes with a lobster bib =)

Guinness Icecream
Guinness icecream. When I saw it come out, really just thought it was a glass of guinness, to be served over some ice cream. How wrong was I?? It's guinness flavoured ice cream in a schooner! With some lightly whipped cream as the froth, and chocolate coated glass =)

Chocolate Mousse
Chocolate mousse for my colleague... yummy!! By the time I was through, was really stuffed... but it was oh so worth it =)

Having originally planned to come just for the daily special of the whole lobster, and not sure what to expect in terms of size and value - this place has exceeded everything I thought! Worth coming again, maybe to try the surf and turf (lobster and steak!)
