Haru Sushi

Sushi is one of those hit or miss things... and you really do hope its not a bad one.
Haru sushi bar is apparently a decently large chain around the states - although I've never heard of them. Decided to try this place mainly because I had some Japanese craving, and that it was close by... Wall Street. Situated at 1 Wall Street, you'd logically think it was across the road from 2 Wall. How wrong that could be...

Haru
First impressions after going in, thought it looked like a small cosy place, but much to my surprise - quite open with a nice view of the sushi bar. It definitely gave an up-class feel.

Sushi Rolls 1
With the many available choices of sushi rolls... I don't remember exactly what was ordered. Spider roll was definitely on the menu - since you can't go wrong with soft shell crabs! But the thin gold leaves on top of rolls... was something I definitely was not expecting... a nice surprising touch. Weird in a sense... but it is Wall Street after all.

Sushi Rolls 2
With the feeling that it wasn't filling enough, round two of some more sushi rolls. Took the recommendation of the waitress, and this time round they were all of the spicy type! Jalapeno's gave a nice kick and is something you don't see too often on a sushi roll.. that plus some fresh wasabi... =)

Tempura Cheesecake
To end off, how can you say no to dessert... Cheesecakes are usually always nice. But now, take three different cheesecakes and have that tempura style?? That's totally a first... where else but in the US would you deep fry anything. To my amazement, apart from the tempura batter taste on the outside you do actually get to taste the texture of the cheesecake. Something you don't see too often and is a definite must!
