Funny how after a trip to France, brings back cravings for some more french food. Bar breton is a brasserie styled restaurant featuring small plates inspired from brittany - the place where the chef was born.

Bar Breton |
There's a small outdoor section, but with the rain - it was always going to be indoors. As with most french places, the interior is dimly lit with an interesting range of artworks listed on the walls. All quite pricey, but I didn't find the appeal in them.

Pate Trio |
Started off with a trio of house pate. These included chicken liver pate, venison pate, and the suckling pig & foie gras terrine. All had their own characteristics and flavour. The chicken liver was the most plain (relatively), as there was nothing wow about it. Nonetheless, these were all great, and good enough to eat on its own.

Seared Yellowtail Tuna |
The seared yellowtail tuna with pink and black peppercorns, fava beans, spring garlic, topped off with ginger lemon mustard. This was quite large for an appetiser and more than filling. Each cut was quite thick, perfect for searing. I wasn't a great fan of the fava beans, but the ginger lemon mustard was a great hit.

Long Island Duck Breast |
At a french place, you can't really go wrong with duck. And I opted for the long island duck breast with white wine poached pear, sugar snap peas and duck jus. To my surprise, this has been the best duck breast ever in ny. The flavours of the pear and duck jus are just superb, especially with the perfectly done medium duck breast. This is a nice little restaurant, and all credits go to the chef to produce this wonderful dish. One that I would definitely go back for.

Creme Brulee Breton |
A typical creme brulee, breton style. This was with armagnac prunes. Nothing great about this, but it was still quite reasonable. The extra flavours the prunes provided was interesting and gives off differently layers of sweetness.
Still, the duck breast was the highlight and most memorable and worth coming for. How french food never disappoints.
