My first meal in london... and no better way than to start it off at a gastro pub.

The White Swan |
Upon entering, it was only a little joint but finely laid out. Was a lot more classier than expected when it was just a casual pub downstairs.

A few nice touches of the gastro pub.

Rabbit Terrine, Prunes, Figs, Pickled Girolles and Hazelnut Dressing |
Wasn't sure what to start with, but decided for something different (and hopefully british?). Rabbit terrine, prunes, figs, pickled girolles and hazelnut dressing. Never knew you could mix rabbit well with terrine - and the result was as expected. It didn't have the terrine touch, and the rabbit meat was just... too separated from everything else.

Crubeens, Sauce Gribiche, Endive and Fried Quails Egg |
My friends option of crubeens, sauce gribiche, endive and fried quails egg. Quail's egg are always great, and presentation was a little messy but generous portion sized. I did like the crubeen =)

Roast Poussin, Consomme, Foie Gras Tortellini, Radish and Runner Beans |
My main of roast poussin, consomme, foie gras tortellini, radish and runner beans. With foie gras, how could I say no... but it was a little disappointing. The young chicken and the consomme was done well, but the tortellini just didn't live up to expectations.

Pan Fried Brill, Lobster and Crab Tortellini, Summer Beans and Tomato |
The daily special of pan fried brill, lobster and crab tortellini, summer beans and tomato. After getting to sample some of this, the portion was a little smaller but sufficient, I much preferred this over the poussin. Great balance of flavours to bring out the freshness.

Mashed Potatoes |
A wonderfully displayed side of mashed potatoes. Lovely flavour and colour =)

Peanut Butter Parfait with Kirsch Cherries |
A peanut butter parfait with kirsch cherries to end the night off. Nice flavour of peanut butter, not too overwhelming but the kirsch cherries were just a little too much on its own.
A nice comfortable hidden gem above a local pub. Only downside is that it's a little on the pricey side. This place will always provide some memories, including the local cider downstairs that nearly made me miss the bus!
